The Future of Kodi Genesis According to lambda

There have been rumors circulating around the Kodi community the past few months about lambda’s Genesis add-on being dead.  Is Kodi Genesis dead? Let’s look past the rumors and read straight from the developer. The future of Genesis is bright, even if it’s under a different name.  BTW, Genesis is my favorite Kodi add-on for streaming TV shows and movies.

Lambda’s Announcement About Future Development

The rumors are not without credibility since lambda’s PR outlet, TVADDONS.org, came out with this announcement regarding the future of Genesis.

Is Kodi Genesis Dead?

While lambda has still not decided whether ‘Genesis’ will continue or not he and the code have certainly not been idle. Regardless of the name the community will be enjoying his efforts in the not too distant future. When ‘it’ is released it will be significantly different from the ‘Genesis’ of the past.

It sounds like when lambda gets back into development, he’s going to be focusing his efforts in a different direction, probably under a different name.

Debrid Services: The Future of Kodi Streaming

The major difference being that it will rely on debrid services for most HD content. With so many installations around the world this is the only way to deliver reliable HD content. If your not familiar with them, debrid services provide you with premium access to a multitude of file hosters or cyberlockers through one account or ‘portal’.

These services will improve your experience with the last version of ‘Genesis’ (v5.1.4) and it will almost be a requirement for HD content in lambda’s current/future efforts. As the article linked above indicates, many of the other awesome add-ons here support debrid services also so it will improve your experience in those as well.

Ok, so what this is saying is that “debrid services” are the future of streaming HD content on Kodi.  Whether it’s in the Genesis add-on or in other add-ons.  Debrid services basically let you pay one single subscription to get premium access to HD content from lots of services instead of having to purchase premium services from each of those providers individually.  This makes it easier for people to sign up for such services, and it also gains the providers extra volume in premium sales by partnering with debrid services.

lambda has not made a final decision but he hasn’t gone anywhere and he continues to develop amazing code.
